Description

I looked at the GNU standards too see what could cause problems when joining GNU. Aside from things we already openly opposed (Texinfo, GFDL), things that seem to be irrelevant or unimportant due to the specificity of our programs, and things I overlooked, here's what is missing:

  1. --version option (Hydrilla only)
  2. --help option and support for /--help path in WSGI script (Hydrilla only)
  3. NEWS file
  4. checking our wiki and source code for words GNU recommends avoiding
  5. ChangeLog file generated from git and included in tarball when making a dist
  6. complete GNU build system (would probably best be postponed until we start doing optional tasks1)

I think we should be able to do points 1-4 for the 1.0 release. The rest may be too complex to tackle right now

The --version and --help options are supported. The GNU inclusion efforts, however, have somewhat stalled. Thus, marking this issue as low-priority.
